Garage Door Spring Repair in Arcadia for Busy Doors
A broken spring leaves a door too heavy to lift. We replace springs as a matched set, sized to the door's weight and to how often it runs.

A balanced door feels light in the hand because its springs carry nearly all the weight. Torsion springs coil on a shaft above the opening; extension springs stretch along the horizontal tracks. Most factory springs are made to last somewhere near ten thousand trips up and down, a trip being one full rise and descent.
A door that runs all day reaches that figure within a year or two. We match wire size, length and diameter to the real door weight, replace springs in pairs, and wind them until the door stays put at any height you stop it.
Signs a Spring Is Finished
A bang from overhead
A snapped torsion spring is loud, like a board dropped on concrete. Afterward the door is dead weight, and an operator cannot be trusted to lift it.
A gap in the coil
Look along the spring for a split or a space where the coils have parted. It may still hold for a few cycles, but the break is coming.
Door sinks or rises on its own
When a door will not stay at half height, the springs no longer match its weight. They may be worn, wound short or simply the wrong size.
How the Replacement Goes
- 1
Weigh and measure
We record the old spring's size, then check what the door actually weighs, because a worn set was sometimes wrong for the door from the start.
- 2
Choose by duty
Standard or high-cycle wire is selected from your daily cycle count, and we say plainly what each choice means for the time between replacements.
- 3
Wind and balance
The new set is installed with bearings and hardware checked, then wound in turns until the door balances and an operator carries it easily.
Spring Questions
- Do springs always need replacing in pairs?
- On a two-spring door, yes. The pair has done an identical amount of work, which leaves the remaining one near the end of its life. Swapping both also keeps the lift even so the door does not twist in the track.
- What makes a spring high-cycle?
- Heavier wire, longer coils or a larger diameter, so each cycle stresses the metal less. The set lasts several times longer than a standard one. It can need a bigger drum or a little extra headroom.
- Can a spring be changed without other work?
- Often, yes, but while the tension is off we also check cables, drums, bearings and the shaft. Fitting a fresh spring to a frayed cable or a worn drum only moves the failure somewhere else, and you pay for two visits.
Heard a Bang From the Door?
Stay clear of the door and switch the operator off. Its size, material and daily use are what we need to describe the replacement.
